What is the best bottle out there for newborns? ?
I am just shy of being 35 weeks pregnant and just had my baby shower. I was surprised to find out that i really did not receive any bottles. So i went to the store to buy some and was shocked at how many different types of bottles there were out there. I almost went into a panic trying to find the right one, but was also thinking about getting perhaps three different types to see what one my baby will like the best. Does anyone have any advice for what bottle has worked the best for them and their newborn?
i did soooo much research on this. i have decided to go with playtex drop ins. they are supposed to be a very close second to the real thing, so if your planning on nursing it shouldnt be a problem with nipple confusion. also i love that i can feed baby and then toss the liner and not have to scrub bottles. if you are planning on nursing, you can even store your milk in the same liners that go in the bottle to feed–how convienient is that?! anyways heres a link for a free sample drop in. it works it just takes a couple weeks to get to ya. they send a 8 oz bottle with some liners and a slow flow nipple. its also nice that the drop ins are bpa free, so you dont have to worry about that either. good luck julie

For me personally, I love the Avent bottles. They are bigger around and easier to hold. And they don’t give my baby gas, and she spits up way less using that bottle than any other.

Avent bottles are the best because they reduce gas and the nipple is just like your breast nipple.

Definitley the drop ins. The nipple on them is shapped just like a real nipple and they are very conveinent. Dont forget to get 1’s they come in numbers accoring to how big the whole is on the nipple so make sure you start with 1’s good luck!

The best is your breast. Any kind of bottle given to a newborn during the first few weeks of life will cause your baby to get trouble latching on properly. Feeding the pumped milk with a little pipette or a spoon will make nursing easier.
After that, it does not matter very much, baby has learned how to suck. Maybe the best is to try a few models and see which baby likes best.

I have gone through TONS of bottles. We weren’t prepared to bottle feed as I BF my older two without issues, but not my new little guy.
My recommendation is, if you are going to breastfeed at all and suppliment then go for the playtex drop ins, or avent or something with a wide nipple. It will less likely cause nipple confusion. If you are going to bottlefeed in the hospital go for the playtex advanced ventaire. We use those now and they are great. My baby also has reflux so we have tried Dr. Brown’s and they worked but were a pain to clean. The playtex ventaire advanced are great and have worked wll for us and my son.
Good luck.

Before my son was born I wasn’t sure if I would breast or bottle feed, I bought bottles just in case.
I bought tommee tippee closer to nature bottles.
I stopped BF when he was 9 weeks and have had no problems with the switch to these bottles. I also like the in bottle milk dispensers that fit inside them so you don’t have to pre prepare formula, just pre measure powder and mix when needed. As it stores inside the bottle, no extra space needed.

I have used drop in playtex bottles, and more recently avent bottles. I prefer the avent hard bottles. They are easy to adjust to prevent gas (just loosen the ring around the nipple to let air flow into the bottle.) the only problem i have had with them is that if you get the ring too loose they leak. It takes a while to get the seal just right. After some time though you just get the hang of it. Also avent makes several nipple flow choices, including a cereal nipple. (i know, i know, you aren’t supposed to put cereal in a bottle) also the playtex liners can burst, they are sometimes a pain to manage with one arm full of baby, and can be difficult to manage when you are away from home. the hard plastic bottle lets you bring water premeasured with you, and then you add the powder whenever you need it.

I have Avent. I heard that they were suppose to be the best. WRONG! All they do is leak out from under the rim. Tried tightening. Messing with it. But NOTHING works!! We just suffer with them because we can’t really afford new ones. We did have one Evenflo Classic and it was great!! I recommend those ones.

at first i tried the playtex vent aire, they were ok i guess but it seemed like it took my daughter forever to eat, also she was having a lot of trouble with gas. then i switched to avent, they work really well and it doesn’t take her forever to get the milk out of it. i have noticed if the lid wasn’t on straight then they would leak, but if I put it on straight then I had no problems with the leaking!!!
i would buy at least 2 or 3 different kinds in the beginning just because every baby is different! good luck
